Over the past few months we have been inundated with a variety of new and exciting ways to integrate ed tech into the classroom, new ways get inspired and strategies to stay connected with teachers around the province, country and globe.
Yet of all the lessons, nothing has been quite like seeing it in action in the classroom.
Primed by all the discussion we had about ed tech, now that I’m in practicum I see it, and the ways it is changing the way we learn and teach, everyday. And to say it is powerful is an understatement.
From using smartboards as interactive whiteboards allowing me to create and plan lessons on them, to modifying them with student input as we roll through the notes and they share ideas.
The way I can use a video, or game online to pull the class into a lesson and make it relevant to their interests.
The global connection of information and networking that they have at their fingertips they can use to look for inspiration, find translations and research a topic in less time than it takes to walk to the library.
The easy way they can write assignments in a way that works best for them, and seamlessly share it to the teacher across multiple devices so we can assess it anytime, anywhere, and never have to worry about misplacing it.
To using a drone, to get s new perspective on our world, and create original works of art that are larger than we are, and appreciate their scale.
Ed tech is all this and more and I can’t wait to see where it takes us to as a learning community in the future, and, I have a feeling that it’s just getting started.
