Educators implement effective practices in areas of planning, instruction, assessment, evaluation and reporting.
For my final practicum I stretched myself continually to exercise and improve all areas of this standard, starting long before my teaching began. Firstly I coordinated with my coaching teacher (CT) to plan for what units I would be teaching during my instructional time, after which I created unit plans for all the applicable subjects embedding both cross-curricular instruction, as well as assessment for learning into them. As I taught my individual units I communicated with my CT to ensure I had fair and accurate evaluating activities and recorded the student’s efforts for their report cards where the evaluations I collected were documented and sent home for parents and guardians to view. All activities were kept on hand and tangible evidence of the student’s work and the assessment were kept in case the parents or guardians had any questions about how their child was assessed and evaluated.
